Hi, I’m Robin

Credentials: Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC), Colorado

Undergraduate degree: Family, Youth, and Community Sciences (B.S)

Masters degree: Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A)

Masters degree: Early Childhood Education: Curriculum and Instruction (M.Ed.)

My legal name is Rebecca, but I go by Robin. When I first started college, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and the question gnawed at me. Kindhearted professors tried to help me figure out what direction to go through thoughtful questioning. The end result was the statement: “I just want to help people”. I ended up selecting an undergraduate major in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences, thinking “surely I will figure out how to help people somehow with that major”. Although the exact how and where has changed throughout time, this broad but worthy vision has played out throughout my career.

I practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate currently, utilizing my masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling to help individuals and families reach mental well being. On a personal level, I deeply value cross disciplinary work and bring to the table expertise from a variety of different experiences. Having an additional masters degree in education, I utilize this knowledge to help present information in unique individualized ways that can be understood. I have years of experience contributing to early childhood quality improvement initiatives in Virginia. These initiatives have focused on helping educators improve the quality of their interactions with their students. This knowledge now translates to a unique understanding of, and ability to, assess and improve the quality of interactions between others. I have worked in the social service/ non profit space, connecting families with the mental health and physical resources they need. This translates to an ability to uniquely see the needs of others and the barriers to getting needs met.

I present the information above because people expect to see education and work history in bio description. I add this paragraph however because I believe that authentic relationships contain an element of vulnerability and through my work at Qi I seek to create spaces for quality interactions and authentic connections with others. I have to fight the desire to become cynical frequently when seeing the bad in the world. I have burnt out of jobs in the past, finding the burden of so many responsibilities to be just too much. I still get anxious when meeting new people, despite doing this daily in my career .. Even now, as I type this, I sit with feelings of insecurity and fear as I consider my decision to start a private practice and move from Virginia to Colorado.

I realize this is a longer than usual bio but it is in alignment with the type of interactions I wish to put out into the world, ones that lead to authentic quality connections with others. I hope that reading this has helped you feel connected to me in some way and that I can reciprocate that feeling by connecting with and getting to know you too!
